The experience of carrying out University Community Work at the National Academy of Sciences is very good, it offers the possibility of collaborating in different tasks which have the objective of disseminating and promoting scientific knowledge in the country. In addition, the staff that works there is extremely committed, which motivates them to carry out and fulfill the assigned hours in the best way possible.

I completed my internship at the National Academy of Sciences in 2014. Being part of this institution that opened its doors to me and contributing my grain of sand has been one of the most enriching experiences in my professional career. Some of these were: the organization of scientific conferences, the dissemination of science among young Costa Ricans through workshops and meeting important people in the field. One of the most exciting moments was collaborating in the organization of Dr. Sandra Cauffman's conference at the Academy and having the opportunity to talk to her and learn about her story. It is an honor to have been part of the ANC, to be able to contribute new ideas and part of my knowledge to such an admirable institution and to work with a great team of people.

I am currently doing University Community Work for the University of Costa Rica at the National Academy of Sciences, and the fact that I am from a field of study other than the exact and natural sciences has helped me develop interdisciplinarity and expand my knowledge outside the area of economic sciences, helping to coordinate the conferences given by different scientists free of charge and open to the public at the Academy facilities. These conferences are a way of bringing science closer to all citizens, with varied topics, but always within reach of anyone, regardless of whether it is in their field of study or not.

Furthermore, by managing the Academy's social networks such as Twitter and Facebook, sharing articles and news of scientific interest, I have learned a lot about scientific and technological innovations that impact the daily lives of everyone.

The Academy plays a fundamental role in its social commitment to include citizens in national scientific work, a sector to which the majority of the population does not have access or is unaware of its work.
