Realiza sus labores de investigaci\u00f3n en esta unidad acad\u00e9mica, as\u00ed como en el Centro de Investigaciones en Productos Naturales (CIPRONA). Desde el a\u00f1o 2013 es el coordinador de la unidad de gen\u00f3mica y biolog\u00eda molecular del Centro Nacional de Innovaciones Biotecnol\u00f3gicas (CENIBiot) del Centro Nacional de Alta Tecnolog\u00eda (CeNAT-CONARE). Adem\u00e1s, ha sido subdirector de la Escuela de Qu\u00edmica (2020-2024) y Director del Programa de Posgrado en Qu\u00edmica (2018-2026) de la Universidad de Costa Rica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Dr. Chavarr\u00eda realiz\u00f3 sus estudios de bachillerato y maestr\u00eda en qu\u00edmica en la Universidad de Costa Rica y posteriormente realiz\u00f3 sus estudios de doctorado en biolog\u00eda molecular en la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid. Su tesis doctoral se enfoc\u00f3 en el estudio del metabolismo central de bacterias ambientales de inter\u00e9s biotecnol\u00f3gico bajo la tutela del Prof. V\u00edctor de Lorenzo en el Centro Nacional de Biotecnolog\u00eda (Madrid, Espa\u00f1a). &nbsp;Actualmente, sus \u00e1reas de inter\u00e9s en investigaci\u00f3n incluyen la microbiolog\u00eda ambiental, la biotecnolog\u00eda microbiana, la ecolog\u00eda microbiana y los productos naturales.
